NEST BUILDING: Spring Ritual '05 Consider this image: The songbirds are busy mating and building nests. We hear their energetic work, fluttering and twittering in the tree branches around us. They collect and gather sticks, twigs, grasses, hair, spider webs which they weave together in intricate design. They line the inside with soft materials, leaves, soft grasses, mud, pine needles, hair, cotton, insulation onto which the female will lay her eggs. Every spring this happens around us, birds preparing for new life in an organized and caring fashion. |
